[Isabelle feels like this is sort of her first order of business. It's all official and stuff.]

So. Hi. I don't think we've ever met - I'm Isabelle, Vice Commander of Patrol. Nice to meet you.

[that's out of the way! Byakuya might be proud. She was all formal and stuff.]

Anyway, I figured I'd hit you up because you're S&R, and one of my friends was suggesting to me the inclusion of medics in the Alliance. All things considered, I thought it might be something good to bring up.

So hey. Here we are.

It's a pleasure, Vice Commander Isabelle. Clearly you already know who I am, but for the sake of formality...Casca. Commander of the Search and Rescue division.

[She pauses there to consider the proposition. The idea is one she'll need to bring up to Byakuya, or have Isabelle herself do, but she can say one thing for it...]

There are never enough medics close at hand when one is needed. It's a very good suggestion, but would you be training new people to fill these roles, or taking from the Clinic staff?

[a little grin.]

Not sure. I'd be willing to train medically-inclined people to be able to keep their head up in a fight, but obviously, I'm no doctor. I was thinking we could put out some kind of PSA asking if there was anyone interested in it. The Clinic's short-staffed as is, last time I checked; I wouldn't want to take some of those away in case of an emergency, but...

[she shrugs.] I know Anders, for one, was out there during the last big disaster. If we could get the people who're out there anyway, then it's no real loss to the Clinic staff, right?

[Mention of Anders has Casca's eyes narrowing a fraction. As far as she's concerned, that man is a disaster all unto himself.]

I'd sooner not take away from the Clinic; the people staffed there should remain there during a crisis, Anders included. Even if he's capable of fighting, there are more of us than there are of those with medical expertise.

[She rubs a temple.]

Putting out an announcement, like you suggested, would be the best route, I think. But before anything like that is done, you'll need to speak with the Alliance Commander himself to be sure this is an idea he approves of.

[oho. She does detect a bit of animosity, perhaps.]

Okay. Yeah, I'll do that. Martha made the suggestion of including Search and Rescue, so I thought I'd get ahold of you first. Besides, I needed to introduce myself anyway. [another grin. Isn't she just so infectiously happy?]

[Probably. >_> She thinks Anders is a pig.]

Martha? [Casca...seems to simmer a bit at the mention of that woman. She's had some brief dealings with her, but it's been a little while. All the same, her impression of the doctor isn't a poor one.] Tell her for me that I'm glad to have had my division included in the consideration.

[And you, Izzy? You just get a look, because what are you smiling at? There's nothing funny here. B| But something occurs to her.]

With all the division changes, it might be in the interest of the Alliance to have some kind of social. How would you feel about that?

[that's good! That's better!] I'll do that.

[she's smiling at everything.]

A great idea. We need something like that. I mean, the network speeches and stuff only do so much - it's better to really get to know everyone personally.

Plus, it's been a while since we've had a party like that. The welcoming bashes don't count.

Good. [Weirdo, with all your weird smiling. Anyone ever tell you that it's weird to be so smiley? Because it is.] I'll run the social idea by Commander Kuchiki to make sure he approves, and if he does, you'll help me with the necessary arrangements.

[...she's not asking. whoops.]

So if you're talking to him anyway, should I still hit him up about getting medics involved? Or will you do that when you're talking to him?

[pause.] Yeah, okay. I like planning parties.

[They're probably not as much of a stick in the mud as Casca.]

The idea belongs to you and Martha. You know more about what she suggested than I do, so it should be you who approaches the Commander.

[She eyes Isabelle a moment, wondering whether or not working with her to arrange a "party" is a good idea. In the end, though, what could go wrong?]

I'll be in touch regarding the social. It may be best to wait until after the welcome party passes, seeing as how that time is so close, but I should have an answer before then from the Commander.

[they're not. She'll wear you down yet, Casca.

[So she just laughs.] Okay. Sure. I'll talk to him.

[it is the best idea you have ever thought of. Isabelle looks cheerful, and reliable enough. Obviously she's going to the right people before just implementing things. She's not quite as bad as she looks.]

Sure. You know where to find me. If you want me in person, I live in HQ.

[Good. Luck. Izzy will need it if she wants to tackle that mountain of no fun.]

If he asks, you're welcome to tell him that I'm on board with the idea.

[Isabelle does strike her as the go-to sort for this kind of task, and if she was granted a Vice Commander position, she's either very reliable, or a work in progress. It doesn't tell Casca enough to be entirely confident, however. But it's enough for her to give it a chance. Besides, who else could she go to? She doesn't exactly...socialize.]

I'll call or come in person.

[Likely in person. They've done the call business, and she'll want a better feel for this woman.]

[CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.]

All right, thanks. That should lend it a little more credibility.

[another light grin. Hopefully she earns Casca's confidence one day.] I'll look forward to it, then. Anything else?

The idea is credible without my support, which is why I said, if the Commander asks. I expect he'll approve, though. He's an efficient man, and the idea of medics close at hand is indeed efficient.

[That said, she gives her head a shake.]

That's everything, Vice Commander...unless there was anything else you wished to speak to me about?

I see why you guys get along. Assuming you do get along. But it seems like you do.

Yep, that's everything.

...What do you mean by that?

[Saying nothing about whether they get along or not, but they do, and fairly well, though she doesn't think that's anyone's business but hers and Byakuya's.]

Well, you're both pretty efficient. It's nice. [beam, beam~]

I...thank you. He sets a good example.

You're welcome. I think working with you guys is going to be awesome. [especially since she can be more efficient. But still fun. Because fun is also important.]
